ODOT seeks public input on multiple road and bridge improvement projects set to begin in 2027

Sydney, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 7 is requesting public comments on several infrastructure improvement projects scheduled to begin in spring and summer of 2027. These upcoming efforts, spanning multiple counties, focus on enhancing roadway safety, pedestrian accessibility, and structural integrity. Feedback from community members is being accepted through May 31, 2025.

Key Projects Seeking Community Feedback

Safety Upgrades at I-75 and US 33 Interchange – Auglaize County (PID 118055)
One of the more significant projects under review is the proposed safety improvements at the intersection of Interstate 75 and US Route 33 in Auglaize County. Due to crash rates higher than expected, ODOT is proposing the construction of a single-lane roundabout at the northbound I-75 to US 33 ramp intersection. This change is designed to improve traffic flow and reduce collision risk. Construction for this project is set to begin in spring 2027. Residents can view an online presentation about the improvements at the PID 118055 page on the ODOT website.

Spring Street Reconstruction in St. Marys (PID 120199)
In the heart of St. Marys, the city is planning a full reconstruction of Spring Street from Main Street to the St. Marys River Bridge. The project also includes converting Front Street (between Spring Street and South Street) into a southbound-only route to accommodate reverse angle parking. The goal is to improve business district access for all users, including pedestrians and drivers. Construction is expected to begin in spring 2027.

New Sidewalks in Springfield – Bechtle Avenue (PID 118643)
The City of Springfield has proposed adding sidewalks along Bechtle Avenue and Hillcrest Avenue, just north of State Route 41. The project focuses on increasing pedestrian accessibility in a high-traffic area. Construction is planned to begin in spring 2027.

Culvert Replacements in Logan County (PID 116483)
ODOT is also addressing deteriorating infrastructure in Logan County by replacing three aging culverts. Two are located on State Route 287 in Zane Township, while the third is on State Route 117 north of Huntsville. These improvements aim to prevent further structural decline and ensure the continued safety of motorists. Construction is scheduled for spring 2027.

Elbee Road Bridge Replacement in Moraine (PID 120483)
In Moraine, the city plans to replace the Elbee Road bridge, which spans a tributary of the Great Miami River. The replacement will correct structural deficiencies and maintain safe travel for vehicles using the route. This project is expected to begin in spring 2027.

Road Resurfacing in Jefferson Township – Infirmary and Pinnacle Roads (PID 121590)
Jefferson Township has proposed a resurfacing project for segments of Infirmary Road and Pinnacle Road. The work will involve acquiring minor right-of-way portions to align the roadway and features properly within public boundaries. This project is planned to begin in summer 2027.
