New traffic flow solution proposed for U.S. 68 in Brown County as ODOT plans roundabout construction

Dent, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 9 is seeking public input on a proposed intersection improvement project at the junction of U.S. 68 and Greenbush Road in Brown County. As part of ODOT’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety and efficiency, the project will involve the construction of a roundabout in Green Township.

Details of the Proposed Project

ODOT plans to construct the roundabout to improve traffic flow and reduce collision risks at this intersection. The project will require approximately 2.064 acres of permanent right-of-way and an additional 0.351 acres of temporary right-of-way. Importantly, no homes or businesses will be displaced due to this construction.

U.S. 68 will remain open throughout the project, ensuring minimal disruption for drivers. However, Greenbush Road will be closed for the duration of construction. A designated detour route will direct traffic from Greenbush Road to Bodman Road, then to S.R. 286 and S.R. 134, before returning to Greenbush Road. The detour will span approximately 10 miles.

Project Timeline and Funding

This project is fully funded by federal resources. The Environmental Commitment date is set for April 1, 2025, and the project is expected to be awarded on April 20, 2026.

ODOT invites the public to share their feedback regarding this proposed improvement. Residents and stakeholders can submit written comments by March 21, 2025.
