Columbus, Ohio – Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jim Tressel, and Ohio Department of Development Director Lydia Mihalik announced earlier this week that three major projects have been approved to significantly boost the state’s economy, creating 1,241 new jobs while retaining more than 700 existing positions.
The announcement followed the monthly meeting of the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA), which reviewed proposals presented by JobsOhio and its regional partners. Altogether, these projects are expected to bring more than $65 million in new payroll and over $13 million in investments to communities across the state.
Breaking Down the Projects
Central Ohio: Picanova Inc. Expands in Obetz
In Franklin County, Picanova Inc. is set to create 246 new full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $13 million in new annual payroll. The global decorative and lifestyle accessories manufacturer, known as one of the largest producers of custom wall décor, will relocate its Arizona operations to Ohio. To support this project, the TCA approved a 1.599 percent, nine-year Job Creation Tax Credit. This move is expected to not only enhance the company’s U.S. operations but also strengthen the job market in Obetz.
Northeast Ohio: Great Day Improvements Expands Facilities
Great Day Improvements, LLC, a direct-to-consumer manufacturer of premium home improvement products, plans a major expansion across Walton Hills, Bedford Heights (Cuyahoga County), and Twinsburg (Summit County). The company anticipates creating 412 full-time-equivalent positions, generating more than $22 million in new annual payroll. Their proposal involves acquiring a new facility, redistributing business operations for higher efficiency, and increasing manufacturing capacity. The TCA approved a 1.743 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit to support this expansion.
Southwest Ohio: Great Day Improvements Boosts Sharonville Operations
In Sharonville (Hamilton County), Great Day Improvements will also expand its workforce by adding 583 full-time-equivalent positions, resulting in more than $30 million in new annual payroll. The project will increase weekly production capacity with the addition of multiple shifts. Like the Northeast project, this expansion will benefit from a 1.743 percent, 10-year Job Creation Tax Credit.
Building a Stronger Future for Ohio
“These projects will create jobs and strengthen these historic downtowns,” said Governor DeWine. “I look forward to seeing these projects create opportunity and prosperity for the Ohio communities that make our state the best place to live, work, raise a family, and do business.”
Director Mihalik echoed the sentiment, adding that the Ohio Department of Development’s mission is to empower communities by investing in people, places, and businesses.
With more than 1,200 jobs created, 700 jobs retained, and millions of dollars in payroll and investment secured, Ohio leaders say these developments represent not just growth but long-term opportunity.
