Missing 21-year-old man found safe after late night disappearance from Dayton mental health facility

Dayton, Ohio – A young man who was reported missing from Miami Valley Hospital has been safely located, according to the Dayton Police Department.

Jesse Chapman, 21, had gone missing late on the night of May 21, 2025, from the hospital where he was undergoing a mental health evaluation. Authorities reported that Jesse, who has the mental capacity of a young teenager, had last been seen around 11:51 p.m. wearing plaid pajama bottoms and a dark-colored T-shirt.

He resides at the Better Living Group Home located at 5617 Elgin Roof Drive in Trotwood, Ohio. His disappearance sparked immediate concern due to his age, mental capacity, and the circumstances surrounding his visit to the hospital. The Dayton Police Department quickly issued a call to the public for assistance, urging anyone with information to contact either the department or Miami Valley Crime Stoppers.

The public responded promptly, and law enforcement confirmed that Jesse has now been found and is safe.
