Man facing life-term prison sentence after a judge finds him guilty of killing his girlfriend’s ex-husband

Dayton, Ohio – A Dayton man was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend’s ex-husband in 2017 in Riverside.

Sterling Roberts, 38, shot Robert Caldwell several times in front of his three children after Caldwell gained custody of them. Roberts was found guilty after the trial that started on March 8.

Caldwell was pronounced dead at the scene after the shooting. It was reported that Tawney and Robert Caldwell had been in a long-running custody battle over their children, according to a release.

The plea of Tawnney Caldwell alleges that she and Sterling Roberts collaborated in Robert Caldwell’s murder and that the two of them spoke via mobile phone multiple times before and after the fatal shooting.

Roberts is facing a life-term prison sentence.
