Man arrested after pulling a gun at Starbucks and opening fire on responding officers

North Olmsted, Ohio – Police in North Olmsted, Ohio, arrested a man after he pulled out a handgun at Starbucks and fired at officers as he tried to flee.

Around 8 a.m. on Monday, officers responded to a report of an armed man threatening people in Starbucks at 272178 Lorain Road.

After entering the store, the man drew his gun and ordered everyone inside to lie on the ground. As soon as authorities got on the scene, the suspect fled on foot.

The man started shooting at the authorities when they intercepted him at Brookpark Extension and Dover Road, and then fled the scene in a vehicle as officers responded with gunfire.

Police started a chase that ended at a home on Kingston Circle. After a brief standoff, the man was arrested.

There was no word on whether the suspect robbed the Starbucks store.

The suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment.
