Man arrested after evading OVI checkpoint in Dayton

Dayton, Ohio – A man who drove his vehicle into a field and tried to escape on foot from troopers following a police chase was arrested on Sunday night.

At around 9:50 p.m., members of the Ohio State Highway Patrol began to pursue a vehicle that had eluded them while they were conducting a sobriety checkpoint on Gettysburg Avenue.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the vehicle came to a stop after driving into a field in the vicinity of Fairbanks Avenue and Crestmore Avenue.

The driver then reportedly left his vehicle at the site and rushed away from the police.

Troopers quickly took the suspect into custody after the incident.

The name of the man has not been made public.
