Dayton, Ohio – In a major operation conducted on October 20, 2025, detectives from the Dayton Police Department’s Special Investigations Bureau, working with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, executed a search warrant that led to the recovery of dangerous drugs, firearms, and cash suspected to be connected to illegal activity.
Drugs and Weapons Taken Off the Streets
According to authorities, the operation resulted in the seizure of 2.7 kilograms of Fentanyl, a powerful and often lethal synthetic opioid, along with 620.7 grams of Methamphetamine. Detectives also confiscated four handguns, including two reported as stolen, and one that had been illegally modified with a switch, a device used to convert a firearm into a fully automatic weapon. In addition, $2,741 in cash was recovered during the operation.
Officers also located a vehicle of interest linked to a recent downtown shooting, further connecting this case to ongoing violent crime investigations in the area.
“This recovery will have a real impact preventing overdoses and possible death from this dangerous narcotic,” the department emphasized.
Fentanyl’s Lethal Reach
The quantity of Fentanyl recovered is especially alarming. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), even 2 milligrams of Fentanyl — an amount small enough to fit on the tip of a pencil — can be deadly. With 2.7 kilograms recovered, this bust potentially prevented over a million lethal doses from reaching the community.
A Commitment to Safety
The Dayton Police Department stressed its ongoing commitment to public safety and the fight against drug-related violence in the city. The successful operation underscores the importance of collaboration between local and state law enforcement in tackling the fentanyl crisis, gun violence, and drug trafficking.
As investigations continue, officials urge residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity that may help protect the community from further harm.
