Kettering Field Sports Complex to host Lights In Flight event with fireworks and entertainment

Dayton, Ohio – Dayton’s highly anticipated Lights In Flight fireworks celebration will light up the night sky once again on Thursday, July 3, at the Kettering Field Sports Complex, located at 504 E. Helena Street. The annual event, presented by the City of Dayton Department of Recreation, promises an unforgettable evening of family fun, food, and fireworks to kick off the 4th of July holiday weekend.

The celebration officially begins when the viewing area opens at 6 p.m., with the fireworks show scheduled to start promptly at 10 p.m. But the excitement doesn’t end there—this year’s Lights In Flight will include a variety of attractions for attendees of all ages.

Children 12 and under can enjoy the BOOM Zone, a special area filled with inflatables, games, and water fun, available from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Meanwhile, food trucks will be serving up local favorites from 6 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. Families can also visit the Dayton Fire Department’s fire truck tours and home safety booth, where tips on staying safe at home will be shared throughout the evening.

Road Closures and Safety Notices

To ensure public safety and make room for the festivities, several road closures will take effect ahead of the event:

  • East Helena Street from McCook Avenue to Keowee Street will be closed to vehicles at 2 p.m.

  • East Helena Street from Riverside Drive to Keowee Street, and Brennan Drive from East Helena to Keowee, will become pedestrian-only zones starting at 4:30 p.m.

  • North Bend Boulevard, including Deeds Park Drive, will be closed to both vehicles and pedestrians at 3 p.m.

  • Hall Avenue, south of North Keowee, will be closed to vehicles at 4:30 p.m.
