Investigation showed suspect used a machete and vehicle to kill a man whose body was found in Dayton park

Dayton, Ohio – A man in his 20’s was taken into custody and is currently facing murder charges in connection with the death of a man whose body was found at Triangle Park on Thursday night.

Officers responded to the 2400 block of Ridge Avenue at 11:56 p.m. for a report of a person who may have been hit by a vehicle. Responding officers located the man after arriving at the scene with what appeared to be injuries to his head and neck.

Authorities determined in the investigation that a machete and a vehicle were used as weapons in this incident. Police said the incident was not random since the investigation revealed that both the suspect and the victim were acquaintances.

Officers arrested the suspect, who was still in the park after this incident, and took him to Montgomery County Jail.

The latest information indicates the 23-year-old male suspect has not yet been officially charged with any crime.

The identity of the victim will be revealed after his next of kin is notified.
