Identity of teenager killed in Ohio Statehouse lawn revealed

Columbus, Ohio – The identity of the 16-year-old boy who was shot and killed on the lawn of the Ohio Statehouse on Sunday has been made public by the police. Additionally, video taken throughout the night by surveillance cameras has been publicly released.

Just after 10 p.m. on Sunday, police officers from the Columbus Division of Police were sent to the statehouse.

The male victim, later identified as 16-year-old Broderick Harper, was found by the police outside of the statehouse on the Broad Street side.

The officers performed CPR on the victim, but unsuccessfully. Medics confirmed the death of the victim at the scene.

According to Sergeant Brice Nihiser, a public information officer with the Ohio State Highway Patrol, one of their teams on the ground heard the gunshot and attempted to help save the victim.
