“I tried to take your life;” Father, who shot his son in the jawline and then fired at his two other sons when they chased him after an argument about their family vehicle, was charged

Florida – In a shocking and violent domestic incident, a 36-year-old father, identified as C. Brown, has been arrested after shooting all three of his juvenile sons during a dispute over a car. The attack, which took place last motnh, left the boys hospitalized with gunshot wounds and the father facing a long list of serious felony charges.

The sheriff’s office responded to the scene of the shooting around 11:15 a.m. at Brown’s home. Deputies arrived to find three young male victims, all suffering from gunshot wounds. They were immediately transported to a hospital for treatment. Fortunately, all three are expected to survive. Authorities later identified the suspect as the boys’ father. Investigators determined that the shooting began during an argument between Brown and his sons concerning the family vehicle.

According to pre-trial documents, the situation escalated when Brown confronted one of his sons with a gun, striking him in the head with the weapon. The impact caused the firearm to discharge, grazing the boy’s jaw and striking his earlobe. As the boy stumbled from the injury, Brown ran toward a vehicle, attempting to flee the scene. At that point, the other two boys ran after their father. Brown then allegedly turned and fired multiple rounds at his children, striking both of them as well. All three boys were left injured as Brown fled.

In one of the most disturbing developments in the case, one of the sons provided detectives with an audio recording left by their father after the shooting. In the message, Brown reportedly said “I tried to take your life.” These statements were presented in court filings, underscoring the premeditated and chilling nature of the attack. Investigators quickly tracked Brown down, and he was arrested by deputies without further violence.

Brown now faces an extensive list of felony charges, including Three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Two counts of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm, Three counts of aggravated battery with great bodily harm or deadly weapon, Felon in possession of a firearm, Discharging a firearm in public or on residential property, Two counts of burglary of an occupied dwelling, Resisting an officer without violence, Criminal mischief (damage between $200 and $1,000)

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the gravity of the situation. “This was a senseless and alarming act of violence that could have had an even more devastating outcome,” said Sheriff C. Chronister. “I’m grateful for the swift response of our deputies and the dedicated efforts of our detectives, who worked quickly to identify the suspect and ensure he was taken into custody without further incident.”

While the state attorney’s office has filed a motion to keep Brown in custody pending trial, no trial date has yet been announced. The investigation into the full circumstances of the shooting remains active. Authorities have not released the names or exact ages of the juvenile victims. The case has sent shockwaves through the community, raising fresh concerns about family violence and firearm safety in the home. For now, Brown remains behind bars, and his sons are recovering from an act of violence that has forever changed their lives.
