High-speed crash in Dayton involving stolen car sends three people to the hospital

Dayton, Ohio – In the early hours of September 20, 2024, a four-vehicle crash occurred at the intersection of East Fourth Street and South Philadelphia Street in Dayton. Officers were dispatched to the scene shortly after 1:50 a.m. after reports of a crash.

According to reports, a black Kia Forte, traveling at a high speed of 85 miles per hour, collided with a white GMC Sierra as it passed through the intersection. The impact of the crash caused the Kia Forte to hit two additional parked vehicles. The Kia was confirmed to have been stolen from a different jurisdiction.

The stolen Kia was being driven by a 16-year-old male, while a 15-year-old male was a passenger. The 16-year-old driver sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital. The 15-year-old fled the scene but later arrived at a hospital with similar injuries. Both teenagers were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property.

The 34-year-old male driver of the GMC Sierra was also transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation into the stolen vehicle is ongoing in a neighboring jurisdiction, while the Dayton Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit is handling the crash investigation.

Police are continuing to gather information on the incident and the circumstances surrounding the theft of the vehicle.
