
Columbus, Ohio – On Monday, February 28th, three bills were signed into law by Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.
HB 4 is sponsored by Representatives Phil Plummer and Susan Manchester and addresses issues such as county child abuse and neglect memorandums of understanding, cross-reporting of child abuse and neglect by public children’s services agencies to law enforcement agencies, notification of reporter rights, eligibility for home assessors, and the creation of a youth and family ombudsman office.
HB 229, sponsored by Representatives Shane Wilkin and D.J. Swearingen, grants qualified immunity to camp operators for harm caused by a risk inherent to camping while also exempting sites that host historical reenactor camps from the requirements for a recreational and camping operation license.
Senate Bill 181 addresses students’ religious expression in interscholastic athletics and extracurricular activities and is sponsored by Senator Theresa Gavarone.
