Free meals for the community at the Home for the Holidays event

Dayton, Ohio – Some organizations in Dayton are still offering holiday meals to the public even after Christmas.

The Home for the Holidays event, sponsored by Have a Gay Day Dayton, will be held on Saturday, December 26, and is open to the public.

Anybody who visits HGD Dayton at 1902 Needmore Road in Dayton will receive a free box of food. According to HGD Dayton, the drive-thru event will be held regardless of the weather conditions.

“This event started because so many people in the LGBTQ Community didn’t have a loving home to go to during the holidays,” HGD stated on the event page.

On Sunday, HGD Dayton plans to distribute 2,500 meals, with no limits on who may pick them up. They’ll also be giving free personal care and cleaning products to everyone who comes by. All products and meals are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

“We do this to share the love and friendship and family with anyone in need of something magically kind during the Holidays. When many schools are closed and factories shut down a nice meal or two can make all the difference. Please consider joining us,” HGD said.

The event will take place on the day after Christmas, from 2 to 6 p.m.
