Dayton, Ohio – Dwight Anderson a basketball legend originally from Dayton, died Saturday family members confirmed.
Anderson played for the Kentucky Wildcats in the late 70s and the University of Southern California in the early 80s.
His basketball career continued when the Washington Bullets drafted him in 1982. He also played for the Denver Nuggets and the Indiana Pacers.
Anderson was nicknamed “The Blur” for being so fast the family shared.
“City of Dayton lost a legend today,” said Bowling Green State University’s Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach in a Tweet.
Anderson went to what was once Roth High School here in Dayton.
He was living in Dayton when he passed Saturday, his daughter said.
It is currently unclear what caused Anderson’s death. The family is waiting for the autopsy and it is expected to come back at the beginning of the week.
Funeral services for Anderson are in the process of being planned.
