Disaster relief loans now available for Fairfield County and surrounding areas after summer flooding

Lancaster, Ohio – In response to severe flooding that struck Fairfield County in late July, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine has announced that the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has approved a disaster declaration to assist affected communities. The flooding, which occurred between July 26 and July 28, caused extensive damage to homes and businesses, prompting state leaders to seek federal support.

SBA Loans to Assist Residents and Business Owners

The disaster declaration opens the door for low-interest loans to individuals and businesses that experienced uninsured losses of 40% or more of their property’s estimated fair replacement value. The loans aim to help those who suffered significant damage but may not have had adequate insurance coverage.

Residents and business owners in Fairfield County, along with neighboring counties Franklin, Hocking, Licking, Perry, and Pickaway, are now eligible to apply for a variety of SBA assistance programs. These include:

  • Business Physical Disaster Loans

  • Economic Injury Disaster Loans

  • Home Disaster Loans

Applications for loans to cover physical damages must be submitted by November 12, 2025, while the deadline for economic injury loan applications is June 12, 2026.

Those interested in applying can do so online through the MySBA Loan Portal or at locally announced SBA locations. Additional assistance is available through the SBA’s Customer Service Center by emailing [email protected] or calling 1-800-659-2955.

With this declaration, Ohioans impacted by the summer flooding now have a chance to rebuild and recover through much-needed financial support.
