Dayton rallies in solidarity with Ukraine on anniversary of the Russian invasion

Dayton, Ohio – Today marks the first anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which led to one of the deadliest conflicts in Europe since World War II. As people across the world show their support and solidarity for Ukraine, a rally is planned at Courthouse Square in Dayton, organized by the Ukrainian Society of Greater Dayton.

Founded almost four decades ago to promote Ukrainian culture and connect Ukrainians in Dayton, the Ukrainian society is taking the opportunity to raise awareness and gather support for those impacted by the ongoing conflict. Board member Maria Steffee shared that Ukrainians are living in a constant state of crisis, and though it’s impossible to cry for help 24/7, it doesn’t mean the need has gone away.

During the rally, which begins at 6:00 p.m., donations will be collected and sent directly to Ukraine. The Ukrainian Society of Greater Dayton hopes to bring attention to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and offer support to those affected by the violence. Today, Dayton stands in solidarity with Ukraine, remembering those who lost their lives in the conflict and honoring those who continue to fight for their country’s sovereignty.
