Dayton police seek witnesses in fatal November hit-and-run case

Dayton, Ohio – The Dayton Police Department (DPD) Traffic Services Unit is actively investigating a tragic hit-and-run incident that occurred in late November 2024. Authorities are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect involved in the fatal accident.

On Monday, November 25, at approximately 6:20 p.m., 67-year-old Phillip Drozd was struck by a black Saturn SUV at the intersection of South Keowee Street and East Third Street. The driver of the SUV fled the scene without rendering aid or identifying themselves. Drozd was rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries.

Surveillance footage captured during the incident shows a green, older-model Jeep Wrangler at the scene. The footage shows that the driver of the Jeep spoke with the suspect for an extended period of time. Detectives are urging this individual, or any other witnesses who may have information that could help identify the suspect, to come forward.
