Dayton Police Department will pay tribute to a fallen officer

Dayton, Ohio – The Dayton Police Department will pay tribute to fallen officer Michael Saylors during his funeral on Thursday morning.

As stated in a statement from the City of Dayton, Saylors died of cancer in early February after working as a police officer for 22 years. His most recent position was as a member of the East Patrol Community Response Team.

Starting around 12:45 p.m., the officer will be carried in a procession through downtown Dayton and past the Safety Building before returning to the funeral home.

Officials said no roads will be closed during the procession, but people in Dayton, Vandalia, Butler Township, Riverside, and Harrison Township may experience traffic delays.
