Dayton police arrest a suspect in Covington shooting case

Dayton, Ohio – A 54-year-old man named Ryan Sherman was arrested on Thursday by Dayton Police in connection with the murder of a woman in Covington last month.

Sherman, a resident of Cincinnati, has been charged with manslaughter, tampering with evidence, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, according to a news release by the Covington Police.

The victim, 51-year-old Laverne Geneva, was found suffering from a gunshot wound at a residence on Wheeler Street on February 26. She was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center but later succumbed to her injuries.

The Covington Police received an anonymous tip that Sherman was staying in Dayton. Following the tip, Dayton Police officers located him at the reported address and took him into custody. Sherman is now awaiting extradition back to Kenton County.

The motive behind the shooting is currently unknown, and the police have not released any further information on the case. The arrest, however, has brought some relief to the victim’s family and friends, who have been grappling with the loss of their loved one.

The Covington Police have thanked the Dayton Police for their swift action and cooperation in apprehending the suspect.

The investigation is still ongoing, and the police have asked anyone with information related to the case to come forward and assist in the investigation.
