Dayton, Ohio – A tragic discovery was made in Dayton after two bodies were recovered from the river near W. Riverview Avenue and W. Monument Avenue, the same area where multiple agencies had been searching for two missing individuals earlier this week.
Bodies Found Following Multi-Agency Search
Authorities were called to the scene on September 15, 2025, at approximately 1:20 p.m., after a concerned citizen reported seeing a body floating in the water. Once on the scene, Dayton Police and Fire personnel located and recovered two bodies from the river.
While the identities of the deceased individuals have not yet been publicly confirmed, the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office will be responsible for making positive identifications and determining the cause of death.
The Dayton Police Department’s Homicide Unit has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. Officials have not yet indicated whether foul play is suspected.
Widespread Effort Involved Multiple Agencies
Search and rescue efforts had been ongoing since Thursday, September 11, and continued through Friday, September 12, in the same vicinity where the bodies were eventually found. The operation involved a coordinated effort between several agencies, including:
-
Ohio Department of Natural Resources
-
Wright-Patterson AFB Fire Department dive team
-
Piqua Fire Department dive team
-
Five Rivers MetroParks Rangers
-
Huber Heights Police Department
-
Texas EquuSearch
These teams scoured the area both in and around the river as part of the mission to locate the missing individuals.
As of now, investigators are awaiting further information from the coroner, and updates are expected as the case develops. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information related to the case to come forward as they work to determine what led to this heartbreaking outcome.
