Dayton man sentenced to life in prison for fatally shooting a homeless woman

Dayton, Ohio – A man from Dayton got a life-term prison sentence for killing a homeless woman.

According to Montgomery County Prosecutor Matt Heck Jr., 45-year-old Ricky Hill will spend the rest of his life in prison after being found guilty of fatally shooting 25-year-old Faith Guffey.

On October 11, 2021, Dayton police were sent to Caho Street in response to a report of a shooting. When police arrived, they discovered Guffey had been shot in the head. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared dead shortly after arriving.

Eventually, Hill was identified as the shooter, and he was charged with murder, felonious assault, and having weapons while under disability. A year earlier, in July, he had just been freed from jail after spending 28 years in prison on an attempted murder conviction.

Hill will not be eligible for release until he has served a total of at least 22 1/2 years in jail.
