Dayton, Ohio – In a sweeping federal case that spanned multiple cities and counties, a Dayton man has been sentenced to 240 months—equivalent to 20 years—in prison for a violent robbery spree that terrorized southwest Ohio in December 2024.
According to court documents and law enforcement officials, 44-year-old Timothy Farr carried out 12 armed robberies at gas stations, convenience stores, and drive-thru locations over a 13-day period. The robberies were carried out in a similar fashion, with Farr wearing dark clothing, gray two-tone gloves, and often a black balaclava or N-95 style mask to conceal his identity. In each incident, he brandished a black firearm, demanding cash and cigarettes from store employees.
“As the crime spree progressed,” prosecutors stated, “the defendant became more aggressive with his verbal commands to store clerk victims and his use of the firearm.”
Caught in the Act and Linked by Technology
Farr’s eventual arrest came on December 16, 2024, following a breakthrough in the investigation. Law enforcement identified a 2011 red Ford Taurus as a vehicle of interest through the Flock Safety Camera System, which had tracked its presence near several robbery locations.
Dayton Police conducted a traffic stop on the Taurus, finding Farr in the front passenger seat. He was wearing clothing that matched surveillance footage from the robberies, and officers discovered an N-95 style mask on the floorboard and the distinctive two-tone gloves in his pocket. A loaded 9mm pistol was tucked into his waistband.
Farr confessed to all twelve robberies during questioning. The businesses he targeted, spanning six cities, included:
-
Dec. 3 – Sunoco gas station, Wayne Avenue, Dayton
-
Dec. 4 – Marathon gas station, Linden Avenue, Riverside
-
Dec. 6 – Ray’s Xenia Avenue Market, Dayton
-
Dec. 7 – Free Pike Drive-Thru, Dayton
-
Dec. 8 – Sunoco gas station, Selma Road, Springfield
-
Dec. 8 – Family Dollar, Salem Avenue, Trotwood
-
Dec. 10 – Mini Mart, N. Main Street, Dayton
-
Dec. 11 – Marathon gas station, E. Fifth Street, Dayton
-

-
Dec. 14 – Family Dollar, West Main Street, Springfield
-
Dec. 15 – Sammy’s Drive-Thru, Woodman Drive, Riverside

Federal prosecutors charged Farr in December 2024, and he pleaded guilty in October 2025. The sentencing, delivered in federal court, reflects the severity and repetitive nature of Farr’s offenses. Authorities emphasized that the crimes not only endangered store employees but also posed a broader threat to community safety.
