Dayton hosts annual Super Refund Saturday offering free tax return preparation and filing

Dayton, Ohio – Working families and individuals in Dayton will once again have the opportunity to receive free tax preparation and filing assistance during Super Refund Saturday, set to take place on Saturday, February 7, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Montgomery County Job Center, located at 1111 S. Edwin C. Moses Blvd.

This annual event brings together trained volunteers from KeyBank, the Miami Valley Urban League, and the City of Dayton to help community members maximize their tax refunds—especially those eligible for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) and Child Tax Credit (CTC).

Helping Families Claim Every Dollar

The EITC and CTC are two of the nation’s most powerful anti-poverty programs, lifting millions of families, including more than three million children, above the poverty line each year. These credits are more valuable than ever, with refund amounts ranging from $649 for individuals with no dependents to as much as $7,830 for qualifying families.

“Super Refund Saturday is a signature annual event that is central to KeyBank’s purpose of helping the communities we serve thrive,” said Natasha Martin, KeyBank’s corporate responsibility officer. “We are excited to continue our storied partnership with the City of Dayton and the Miami Valley Urban League to support our neighbors with free tax preparation services.”

Although appointments are strongly recommended, the event will also accommodate a limited number of walk-ins—those interested are advised to arrive before 2 p.m. to secure a spot. To schedule an appointment, residents can call 937-913-2000, and attendees are asked to use the orange Job Center entrance upon arrival.

What to Bring to Your Appointment

To ensure a smooth and accurate filing process, participants should bring the following documents:

  • State-issued photo ID

  • Social Security cards for self, spouse, and dependents

  • W-2 forms

  • 1099 forms (for interest, independent work, etc.)

  • Unemployment forms (if applicable)

  • Proof of childcare payments

  • Any other relevant IRS forms

  • Previous year’s tax return (if available)

  • Bank routing and account numbers for direct deposit

Eligible taxpayers must file a federal return in order to claim the EITC and CTC. Unfortunately, billions of dollars in refunds go unclaimed each year due to unfiled returns—Super Refund Saturday seeks to reverse that trend by offering free, trustworthy tax services to those who need them most.

“The Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit are available and beneficial for so many Dayton families and workers, and I encourage our residents to participate,” said Mayor Shenise Turner-Sloss. “The City of Dayton is proud to present this opportunity in cooperation with KeyBank and the Miami Valley Urban League.”

Building Long-Term Financial Security

The event is about more than just tax filing—it’s about empowering residents with tools for lasting financial wellness.

“At the Miami Valley Urban League, we are proud to support Super Refund Saturday, ensuring hard-working individuals receive the refunds they deserve while gaining the tools for lasting financial security. Through our Financial Empowerment Center, we provide free financial coaching, credit-building support, and resources to help families take control of their futures. When our community thrives, we all thrive,” said Nikol Miller, Executive Director of the Miami Valley Urban League.
