Dayton boy hospitalized after being struck by vehicle

Dayton, Ohio – One boy is in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle in Dayton on Wednesday afternoon.

The Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center said that emergency crews were sent to the 2800 block of Revels Avenue around 4:17 p.m.

According to Dayton Police Sgt. Creigee Coleman, witnesses informed officers that three youngsters were playing in the car when it began to move. One of the youngsters, a 5-year-old boy, got out of the car and was struck.

Coleman said that two individuals attempted to stop the vehicle, describing their efforts as “heroic” and stating that the child’s injuries may have been “catastrophic” if they had not been there.

According to the reports, medics transported the child to Dayton Children’s Hospital. He was said to be in critical condition.

It is unknown whether or not charges will be filed in connection with the incident.

An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the Dayton Police Department’s Traffic Service Unit.
