Couple faces domestic battery and neglect charges for abusing a boy on Christmas Eve

Indiana – A couple from Clarksville was arrested after being caught while scratching and choking a boy on Christmas Eve.

Domestic battery and neglect charges were filed against Daniel and Kelly White.

“I think the thing that struck me in filing these charges was the fact that it was Christmas Eve and the fact that there’s a 5-year-old child who ought to be looking forward to the holiday, but instead EMS arrives and finds this child covered in feces, being assaulted,” Clark County prosecutor, Jeremy Mull, said.

According to a probable cause affidavit, EMS was dispatched to the Whites’ house on State Street in Clarksville on Christmas Eve. They discovered the two on top of a boy, scratching and strangling him, when they arrived.

According to the complaint, Kelly White told police that they discovered a bulge in the boy’s neck, which they thought was a blood clot, and that they were “attempting to make the bulge in his vein go away by rubbing it down his body.”

According to Mull, Kelly White was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

“When controlled substances like methamphetamine are involved in a situation, it never surprises me the sort of outlandish behavior I see being exhibited. Unfortunately in this case, the child bore the brunt of that,” Mull said.

In the affidavit, the Whites are identified as the boy’s “guardians.” They informed police that the child had spent the night before with his biological mother, who is referred to in the document as a “legal guardian.”

The youngster has subsequently been treated for his injuries and is in in a safe place, according to Mull.
