Columbus, Ohio – The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, like many other businesses and organizations from around the world, is doing all it can to help Ukraine.
On Tuesday, the zoo stated on its Facebook page that it is donating $10,000 to the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria’s emergency fund for Ukrainian zoos as part of the association’s disaster relief efforts (EAZA).
A statement on Facebook said that all funds would be handed to Ukrainian zoos to be used only for the care of animals.
In part, the EAZA noted in a statement released online that, “Animals and staff of Ukrainian zoos played no part in initiating the conflict, yet these peaceful conservation and education institutions and their animals are acutely vulnerable to the societal chaos caused by war.”
