Dayton, Ohio – The City of Dayton Department of Recreation is inviting families to step into spring with a fun-filled event focused on health, movement, and community connection. Family Wellness Day is set to take place on Saturday, May 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lohrey Recreation Center, located at 2366 Glenarm Ave. Admission is free and open to the public.
Organizers are encouraging residents to embrace wellness as a family through an exciting lineup of activities and demonstrations.
The centerpiece of the event is a one-mile Adult Walk and Kids Run, happening continuously throughout the morning to get everyone moving together. But that’s just the beginning. Other activities will include a tire-flipping contest, jump rope with heart rate tracking, and classic field games like cornhole.
Families can also explore booths featuring water safety tips, build-your-own trail mix stations, a gratitude board, and easy healthful recipes. There will be fitness class demos for those interested in trying something new, and even demonstrations on backyard chicken and egg farming as well as bee and honey education.
Health-focused organizations such as Kettering Health, Solvita, and Aetna will be present to provide resources and information to support long-term wellness goals.
Once the main event ends, the fun doesn’t stop. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., the Lohrey Recreation Center pool will offer open swim, with admission priced at $2 for youth and $3 for adults.
