Dayton, Ohio – The City of Dayton is set to break ground on a new police building on Wednesday, October 9, 2024. This facility, which will house the West Patrol Operations Division, will be located adjacent to the historic Wright Company Factory. The new building marks a significant investment in Dayton’s law enforcement infrastructure, with a total project cost of approximately $5.5 million, the largest investment in Dayton Police facilities in more than 30 years.
The last police station in the area was constructed in 1991. The new facility is expected to be completed by late 2025. Once finished, the West Patrol facility will relocate from its current address at 951 Washington to its new home at the corner of West Third Street and Abbey Avenue. The city also plans to make further improvements to the surrounding property to prepare the area for future development.
A groundbreaking ceremony, led by city officials and representatives from the Dayton Police Department, will take place at the new location at 11:00 a.m. on October 9, 2024.
