Dayton, Ohio – The Dayton Police Department has announced two arrests in connection with the fatal shooting of Joshua Fuller, a case investigators describe as a shocking act of violence that continues to be under investigation.
According to police, the shooting occurred on June 14, 2026, shortly after Fuller left the Main Mart located in the 2400 block of North Main Street in Dayton. Authorities said the encounter unfolded quickly and without any apparent verbal exchange.
Investigators reported that Fuller was leaving the store when a suspect approached him, pointed a firearm at him, and fired. Police stated that the gunman acted without speaking to Fuller before pulling the trigger.
Two teenage suspects taken into custody
The following day, June 15, detectives located two of the four suspects believed to be involved in the case. Police found the individuals in the 1600 block of Russet Avenue while investigating other violent incidents that authorities believe were connected to the same juvenile suspects during the weekend.
The two suspects arrested were a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male. Both were taken into custody, and investigators executed a search warrant at the residence where they were located.
Police later identified the 17-year-old as the alleged shooter in Fuller’s killing. Authorities have not publicly released the names of the juveniles because of their ages.
While the arrests mark a significant development in the investigation, officials say the case is far from over. Police indicated that another suspect connected to the homicide remains at large, and efforts to locate that individual are ongoing.
Investigation remains active
Detectives with the Dayton Police Department’s Homicide Unit continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting as well as other incidents that may be related to the suspects.
Authorities described the killing as a brazen act of violence and are continuing to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and follow leads.
Investigators are asking the public for assistance as they work to identify and locate any remaining suspects and determine the full extent of involvement by those connected to the case.
Anyone with information about the shooting or related incidents is encouraged to contact the Dayton Police Department at (937) 333-COPS. Individuals who wish to remain anonymous may provide information through Crime Stoppers by calling (937) 222-STOP.
The arrests represent an important step in the investigation, but police say their work continues as they seek justice for Joshua Fuller and pursue all individuals believed to have played a role in the fatal shooting.
