Dayton, Ohio – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is inviting residents to take part in a special event designed to support those serving overseas through care package donations and local involvement.
The event, titled “Red, white, and back the brave – support our troops overseas”, will bring together community members and organizations with a shared goal of showing appreciation for military personnel stationed abroad. The Sheriff’s Office is partnering with Blue Star Mothers – Miami Valley Chapter #3 for this initiative.
Community Event to Support Troops
The event is scheduled to take place on May 8th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Sam’s Club, located at 1111 Miamisburg-Centerville Road in Washington Township. During this time, residents will have the opportunity to contribute in several ways, making it easy for anyone to get involved.
Organizers are encouraging attendees to bring care package items that can be sent directly to troops overseas. These items often include everyday necessities, comfort goods, and small reminders of home that can make a meaningful difference to those serving far away. For those who may not have items prepared in advance, donations can also be made on-site.
In addition to physical donations, cash contributions will be accepted to help support the cost of assembling and shipping the care packages. Volunteers and organizers will be present throughout the event to assist with collection efforts and provide information about how the donations will be used.
To add a welcoming and engaging atmosphere, the event will also feature a Sam’s Club cookout. Community members can enjoy food while supporting the cause, as donations will be accepted for meals. This creates a space not only for giving but also for gathering, allowing residents to connect while supporting a shared mission.
Another convenient option for participants is the ability to pick up donation items directly in-store. This makes it easier for those who decide to contribute on the spot without needing to prepare ahead of time.
For those who want to ensure they are bringing the most needed items, organizers have provided a resource for a full list of requested supplies. Residents can visit www.bluestarmothersmiamivalley.org or use the QR code featured on the event flyer to view the list and even purchase items directly for donation.
This effort reflects a broader sense of community support and gratitude, offering residents a simple yet meaningful way to show appreciation for troops serving overseas. Through donations, participation, and shared effort, the event aims to bring comfort and encouragement to those far from home while strengthening community ties locally.
