City of Dayton offers free live Christmas tree pickup service through mid January

Dayton, Ohio – The City of Dayton is once again offering free live Christmas tree pickup for its waste collection customers. The service runs through Tuesday, January 16, giving residents a convenient way to responsibly dispose of their natural trees after the holiday season. The city encourages citizens to take advantage of this opportunity and help support local sustainability goals.

How to Request a Pickup

City of Dayton Waste Collection customers can schedule their pickup in one of two easy ways:

  • By calling 937-333-4800

  • Or by using the Live Chat feature located in the lower right corner of the homepage at daytonohio.gov

Once a request is submitted, residents should place their tree at their usual waste collection spot. However, the city reminds everyone that all lights, ornaments, tinsel, and tree stands must be removed before the tree is placed out for collection. Only natural live trees will be accepted — artificial ones are not part of this program.

Residents are encouraged to act before the deadline and make sure their trees are properly prepared to ensure smooth pickup and safe disposal.
