Paulding County woman follows her gut and wins $500,000 on a scratch-off ticket

Antwerp, Ohio – In a remarkable twist of fate, a woman from Paulding County woke up one morning with a strong and unshakable urge to buy lottery tickets. She said she just “felt a funny feeling” that she couldn’t ignore. Acting on instinct, she went to the Antwerp Pit Stop, located at 304 W. River Street in Antwerp, and purchased five $10 Cashword scratch-off tickets.

When she got home, she began scratching them and noticed something unusual on the very first ticket. “Something ain’t right,” she thought, puzzled by the amount of letters revealed. Uncertain of what she was seeing, she handed the ticket to her husband and asked him to scan it using the Ohio Lottery app.

After scanning, he was stunned. He looked at her and said he needed to stand up. Then he grabbed her, started shaking her, and shouted, “We’re rich! We’re rich! We just won half a million dollars!” She screamed back, “I can’t believe it!” Despite always saying to herself, “One day I’m going to hit the big one,” the reality of her $500,000 win is still sinking in.

She believes her prayers were answered. “God listened,” she said, reflecting on the incredible moment. Since the win, she said she has “never been happier.” With her after-tax winnings of $364,375, she plans to pay off their home and buy a new vehicle. Her advice to others? “Keep buying those tickets!”

The $500,000 Cashword scratch-off game has overall odds of 1 in 3.69. As of November 19, 2025, there are still four top prizes remaining, along with many other winning opportunities.
