$50 scratch-off swap turns into $20,000 win for lucky player at Friendship Food Store in New Haven

New Haven, Ohio – What started as a routine stop to cash a modest lottery win turned into a life-changing moment for a woman named Adrienne, who walked away with a $20,000 prize after trusting her instincts.

Adrienne had initially planned to cash a $50 winning ticket while on her way home from work. She stopped at Friendship Food Store #99, located at 2700 US RT 244 in New Haven, but when the store couldn’t pay out the prize, she decided to take a chance on something else. “I had a feeling, and I always go by my feelings. They couldn’t cash the ticket, and I saw the VIP Millions ticket and said I’ll just take that ticket,” Adrienne said.

Her gut instinct paid off big time. The VIP Millions ticket she chose ended up being a $20,000 winner. “I think it worked out, I wasn’t disappointed at all!” she said, smiling about the unexpected windfall.

After mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 27.125 percent, Adrienne will take home $14,575. She said she plans to pay off some debt and put some of the money aside for a family trip to Las Vegas in March.

Adrienne is no stranger to the VIP Millions game. She said she loves the ticket and “seems to do really well with it,” having already won $1,000, $500, and $100 multiple times. This $20,000 win, however, marks her biggest yet.

The VIP Millions scratch-off game costs $50 and offers a top prize of $40,000 a year for 25 years. As of October 10, 2024, there are still 23 top prizes left in the game, leaving plenty of opportunity for others to follow their lucky hunch.
