22-year-old woman died after her ex-boyfriend, against whom she had a protective order, beat her before intentionally pulling her onto the road to be hit by a vehicle; boyfriend charged

Florida – In a shocking case in Florida, a 29-year-old man, identified as Lorent Junior Pion, is facing serious legal consequences following a violent altercation on the roadway with his 22-year-old ex-girlfriend, identified as N. Cittadini, that eventually led to her death. The incident, captured by traffic cameras, paints a chilling picture of domestic violence escalating to a deadly confrontation.

According to reports, Pion was charged with second-degree murder in the death of Cittadini. The brutal incident occurred in December. Initially, after the incident, Pion told the police that Cittadini had jumped out of his moving vehicle and was accidentally hit by another car. However, this account was soon contradicted by video evidence. Traffic camera footage revealed a harrowing scene where Pion was seen beating and pulling Cittadini onto the busy interstate. As described in the arrest warrant, Cittadini attempted to crawl back to safety on the emergency shoulder but was dragged by Pion into the path of oncoming traffic, where she was ultimately struck by a vehicle.

According to reports, on the evening of December 7, an argument between Pion and Cittadini escalated when Pion physically removed Cittadini from his SUV and began assaulting her beside the road. Traffic Management Center workers, monitoring the cameras, witnessed the attack in real-time, observing Pion as he punched Cittadini and pulled her towards the traffic lanes, despite her attempts to escape to safety. Witnesses and DOT workers described how vehicles swerved to avoid Cittadini as she lay in the roadway. After she was hit, Pion allegedly tried to “load” her body back into his SUV, dragging her across the grassy median. He was captured doing this before fleeing the scene.

After the DOT workers alerted the authorities, police were dispatched to the scene. Following a brief car chase, Pion was apprehended and taken into custody. Initially charged with failing to stop and aggravated fleeing, the charges were later upgraded to second-degree murder as the investigation unfolded and the video evidence was reviewed.

The relationship between Pion and Cittadini was marked by previous incidents of domestic violence. Pion had a criminal history that included carjacking, possession of a weapon by a felon, and fleeing and eluding. Additionally, he had been arrested in August before the murder for a similar assault against Cittadini that was also captured on video. As per reports, a protective order was issued against Pion following the incident in August. Cittadini’s family and friends reported that Pion’s behavior had been increasingly possessive and obsessive. According to Cittadini’s mother, Pion followed her daughter relentlessly, even as she tried to escape his grasp by moving away in New York.

Pion is currently held without bond in the county jail, awaiting further legal proceedings. His next court appearance is scheduled for later in the month, where he will face the charges laid against him. The community, still reeling from the brutality of the incident, has rallied around the memory of Cittadini, calling for justice and heightened awareness about domestic violence. As the case progresses, it serves as a grim reminder of the fatal consequences of domestic abuse and the importance of taking early action against such violent behaviors. The legal outcome of this case will be closely watched by advocates and community members alike, hoping for justice for Cittadini and measures to prevent such tragedies in the future.
