12-year-old girl left to sleep outdoors after her mother locked the door because she wouldn’t let her to hang out with a friend at the home; mother arrested

Texas – In a troubling incident in Texas, a mother faces serious allegations of child endangerment after reportedly locking her 12-year-old daughter out of their home, leading to the child spending a night on a bench. The 45-year-old mother, identified as G. Albert, is charged with child endangerment following the events of a Saturday night dispute with her daughter. The incident has drawn attention due to Albert’s role as a part-time teacher with the HISD.

The events unfolded on a Saturday evening when Albert and her daughter argued over whether the child could have a friend over at their residence. Following the disagreement, Albert is accused of not only refusing her daughter entry back into the apartment but also allegedly forcing the young girl to spend the night outdoors and sleep on a bench within their apartment complex.

The situation came to light early the next morning when the child sought help from a local Houston Police Department substation around 7:10 a.m. After hearing the child’s account, officers proceeded to the apartment to investigate the matter. Despite Albert’s initial claim that her daughter had run away, authorities determined this was not the case and arrested Albert on a Monday, charging her with endangering a child.

Following the arrest, the child was placed under the care of Child Protective Services before being released to another family member. Meanwhile, Albert posted a $5,000 bond and was released from jail. Given her status as a part-time teacher, the HISD has begun proceedings to terminate her contract, reflecting the severity of the allegations against her.

Albert now faces significant legal challenges. Her court appearance is scheduled for October 15, where she will answer to charges that have alarmed the community, particularly those involving the safety and well-being of children. The school district’s swift action in moving to terminate Albert’s contract indicates a zero-tolerance stance on matters involving the endangerment of children, aligning with broader community expectations for the safety and care of young residents.

As the case progresses, it serves as a grim reminder of the critical importance of supervising and securing the welfare of minors, drawing attention to the responsibilities of guardians and the community at large in safeguarding the youngest members. Albert’s forthcoming trial will likely further highlight these issues and set a precedent for how similar cases are handled by the legal system and educational institutions.
