Massachusetts – In a heartbreaking incident in Massachusetts, a 12-year-old girl, identified as A. Lebeau, died after falling from a third-story window during what was supposed to be an ordinary sleepover with friends. The shocking incident occurred after a disagreement over a slice of pizza, which reportedly escalated into a physical altercation. According to family members, Lebeau was kicked, causing her to fall out the window and suffer a fatal head injury.
As of now, no charges have been filed, but law enforcement agencies, including the police department and the district attorney’s office, have launched an investigation into what they are currently calling an “unattended death.” The cause of death will be officially confirmed following the results of an autopsy.
Lebeau’s mother told reporters she had dropped her daughter off at the sleepover on Friday night, under the assumption that a parent would be present to supervise the children. She was reassured that the gathering was safe. However, just two hours later, she received a devastating call — her daughter had fallen from a third-floor window and no adults were in the home. “I dropped her off for her sleepover, and I just feel like I’m waiting for her to come home,” the mother said through tears. “I just want justice for my daughter. I want to make sure that this is investigated properly and that we have everything we need to make sure she gets justice.” Lebeau’s father, echoed the anguish. “She was the greatest child I could have in my life. I miss her. I just want closure — no matter what, I just want closure, I want answers.”
While the official investigation is still ongoing, Lebeau’s grandmother shared more disturbing details in a post on social media. She said that the argument began over a slice of pizza and spiraled into physical aggression. One of the children allegedly kicked Lebeau, causing her to fall backward through the window. Some family members also believe the children may have been playing a game meant to scare Lebeau, which quickly turned into something far more dangerous. “She was supposed to be safe,” Lebeau’s grandmother wrote. “She was just a kid. And someone’s recklessness and lack of supervision stole her future.”
Emergency crews rushed Lebeau to a local hospital, but her injuries were too severe. She died shortly after being admitted, leaving her family shattered and the community in mourning. The fact that no adults were present at the time has intensified the outrage from Lebeau’s parents and raised serious questions about negligence and accountability. “I had no idea the kids were left alone,” said her father. “Part of her summer list was to have sleepovers, which is what she was doing. But she never should’ve died doing something so innocent.”
Authorities have not yet confirmed if any criminal charges will be filed in connection to Lebeau’s death. The district attorney’s office continues to investigate the circumstances, including interviewing the children who were present at the time and analyzing evidence from the scene. As of this writing, no arrests have been made, and law enforcement has declined to release the identities of the other children involved.
Lebeau’s family remembers her as an energetic, intelligent, and hopeful girl who had already mapped out her dreams for the years ahead. “I tell everyone she was 12 going on 23,” her mother said. “She had the next few years planned out already.” “She was so hopeful for the future, and this summer she was really looking forward to many activities with her friends.” A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the grieving family and help with funeral expenses. As of Wednesday afternoon, the fundraiser had raised over $16,500, a testament to the outpouring of community support. Lebeau’s tragic death has not only broken a family but also left an entire community questioning how such a devastating incident could occur — and whether anyone will be held responsible.
